PURPLE LEAVED PLUM (Prunus cerasifera pissardii)

Known for its purple leaves, this is a thornless plum tree which reaches a maximum height of up to 10m with a spread of up to 5m.

It produces pink buds which open into masses of small white flowers in March or April. The flowers are followed by deep purple leaves.

The fruits appear in late summer. They are yellow or red, small and edible.
