PONDING AT WOODCROFT WILDSPACE NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2012
POND IN PROGRESS
VOLUNTEER JON INSPECTING
FINISHED POND
TEMPORARY WATER STORAGE
We’ve made some great progress with the ponds recently. We've built and filled a 2nd Temporary Water Storage Device – TWSD (thanks to Jon for the acronym !!) – even bigger than the 1st one we did the previous week. The two of them give us something like 7000 litres of water stored up ready to go into the big pond – when we’re ready to line it. We might need a 3rd one and / or just temporarily reline the one we abandoned for a week or so.

We got the smaller of the two ponds almost finished on 1st December – it just needs a bit of work along the top edge to cut the carpet and cover it all in.

The water storage worked a treat – it meant that we were able to line and fill it the pond all in one day. The big pond is going to be a challenge to have enough water available to fill it up properly. This one took two of the temporary stores plus the bottom of the big pond as well. Serious water volume !! All that rain but how to keep it!

We found a couple of frogs around while we’ve been preparing the two ponds – so we have some resident amphibians.
