LEYLAND CYPRESS (x Cupressocyparis leylandii).

Leyland Cypresses are  hybrids between the Nootka Cypress (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) and the Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa). They are the fastest growing conifer in Britain and can grow up to 90cm a year finally reaching a height of up to 30m if left unclipped.

The crown is conical and columnar. The scaled foliage is dark green on the top and pale yellowish green underneath.

The tree is sterile and the 2-3 cm diameter cones are infrequently produced.
